Butternut golden brown represents the South and shades of blue represent the North. Each month we will sample a dish that would have been commonplace on an 1860 era dinner table. In warm weather, we will experiment with dyeing fabric the way our ancestors did, using red mud and black walnuts. Pre-cut kits will be provided for each block. Class requires Borderlands Butternut & Blue book by Barbara Brackman. Additional supplies include: Sewing machine with a 1/4 inch foot, Thread & scissors
